About G100 Security & Defence - Ontario

Our Mission

In the world, we face a climate crisis with fires, droughts, floods, and typhoons that have impacted everyone on a global scale. In Canada, not only have the wildfires devasted our forests and agricultural industry, but we are still discovering unmarked graves at former residential schools and fighting to search landfills for the remains of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls. Marginalized genders are more severely impacted by the local and global challenges we face, and it is the mission of this sector of the G100 to provide a platform that can support, promote and amplify these important voices.

Our Mandate

1

Recognize and promote understanding that security and defence affect people of different gender identities differently, and advocate an intersectional approach.

2

Increase understanding of the gendered impacts of security and advocate gender-responsive action towards climate justice, human rights, community development, labour and the social economy.

3

Increase the involvement of women and other marginalized genders in all areas of security and defence, with an inclusive understanding of the scope of security.

4

Integrate gender equity and shape security and defence strategies based on the priorities of gender rights.

5

Provide opportunities for learning and discussion around the connections between gender and different interpretations of security and defence.
